Restored Well and Reconstructed Well Sweep
Summary
Fort Vancouver. The well is the only original structure remaining in the Hudson's Bay Company stockade. Originally built around 1845, it was excavated in 1955 and rehabilitated in 1974. It was historically used for domestic water supply. The well still has its original rubble stone masonry lining. The shaft opening was covered with wood boards similar to other fort wells seen in historic photographs.
