Summary

Ralph G. King, a World War II veteran who served with the 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division, attends a memorial ceremony for 1st Infantry Division Soldiers who died on D-Day securing Omaha Beach at Omaha Beach, France, June 3, 2019. King served four enlistments beginning in WWII and ending in 1963 after a Special Forces tour in Laos. More than 1300 U.S. Service Members and 950 military personnel from Europe and Canada are commemorating the 75th anniversary of World War 2: Operation Overlord, the Allied invasion of Normandy, France on June 6, 1944, also known as D-Day. Participating military units will take part in more than 70 events from June 1-9, 2019, throughout almost 40 French communities in the region. (U.S. Army photo taken by Spc.
