Pierre-Auguste Renoir was a French artist born on 25 February 1841 in Limoges, France. He is considered one of the leading figures of the Impressionist movement, known for his depictions of everyday life and leisure activities. Renoir began his career as a porcelain painter before studying art at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris. He later worked with other Impressionist painters such as Claude Monet and Edgar Degas. Renoir's style evolved over time and he experimented with different techniques, including the use of bold colours and loose brushstrokes. Some of his most famous works include "Luncheon of the Boating Party", "Dance at the Moulin de la Galette" and "The Swing". Renoir died on 3 December 1919 in Cagnes-sur-Mer, France.
