Summary
Pen and brown ink over black lead and watercolor on two conjoined sheets, 363 x 445 mm. Inscribed in brown ink: within a red border (modernized), 'The 11th of May the General in the Tiger arrived at St. Johns Island where he fortified in this manner, took in fresh water, and built a Pinesse, and then departed from therre the 23rd of the same month, 1585'; with various items labelled on the image and to right, 'The manner of drawing in of timber, into the fort for the building of a Pinesse.' 1906,0509.1.4
