This image is one of a series taken by migrant Vaughan Evans during his voyage from England to Australia on board SS NEW AUSTRALIA in early 1955. Vaughan Evans OAM (1924-1993) came to Australia as a 'ten pound pom' and his lifelong passion for maritime history led him to found the Australian Association for Maritime History. Evans donated his extensive personal library to the Australian National Maritime Museum in 1986.
