Operation Enduring Freedom, Afghanistan
Summary
At sea in support of Operation Enduring Freedom (Oct. 12, 2001) USS Carl Vinson (CVN 70) and the fast combat support ship USS Sacramento (AOE 1) steam side-by-side during a routine replenishment at sea (RAS). The Vinson is conducting flight operations against terrorist training camps and Taliban military installations in Afghanistan. The carefully-targeted actions are designed to disrupt the use of Afghanistan as a base for terrorist operations and to attack the military capability of the Taliban regime in support of Operation "Enduring Freedom."
