On their arrival from Forward Operating Base Naray to a border checkpoint in eastern Konar province recently, Lance Cpl. Michael J. Subu of Jacksonville, N.C., greets Afghan national army Lt. Col. Mohammad Naseem, commander of 3rd Kandak (Armored), 3rd Brigade, 201st ANA Corps, and other 3rd Kandak soldiers. Subu is part of Embedded Training Team 7-2 and with one more Marine works with ANA soldiers at the checkpoint. A Kandak is an Afghan battalion.
