PACIFIC OCEAN (Jan. 23, 2009) Naval Air Crewman 1st Class Stephen Martin, from Olathe, Kan., loads .50-caliber ammunition for a GAU-21 machine gun into an ammunition can on an MH-60S Sea Hawk helicopter from the "Eightballers" of Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron (HSC) 8 aboard the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS John C. Stennis (CVN 74). HSC-8 is testing a new four-gun configuration on the Sea Hawk to increase operational capabilities against potential small boat threats. John C. Stennis and Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 9 are on a scheduled six-month deployment to the western Pacific Ocean.
