Pearl Harbor, Hawaii (Sep. 14, 2004) More than 600 chief petty officers (CPO) and CPO selectees assigned to over 30 commands in Hawaii, participate in the annual Ford Island Heritage Run. The run spans the perimeter of Ford Island with historic briefings about the Battleship Missouri, USS Utah Memorial, USS Arizona Memorial, USS West Virginia, USS Oklahoma, USS Nevada and USS California at their mooring quays along the way. The event is held to reinforce history, heritage and tradition in the new CPO selectees and allows the commands to assemble as a unified Chief's mess.
