The Women's Royal Naval Service (WRNS): Wrens working at an underground naval operational centre at Rosyth where they send and receive vital invasion signals. Photograph shows: decoded messages being typed and copies duplicated by Wrens in the Signal Distributing Office. In the foreground 2nd Officer Constance MacLelland, of Glasgow, one of the Duty Signal Officers, is talking to 3rd Officer Katherine Hill, of Taunton, Somerset, who as Unit Officer is responsible for the welfare and discipline of the Wrens in her charge. Chief Yeoman of Signals Charles Ashley is in charge of the girls at work.
