Members of the 101st Airborne Division Honor Guard board a 437th Military Airlift Wing C-141B Starlifter aircraft for a flight to Gander, Newfoundland, Canada, where they will assist in the airlift of remains of members of the 3rd Bn., 502nd Inf., 101st Airborne Div. On December 12, 1985, 248 soldiers of the 3rd Battalion were killed in a plane crash at the Gander Airport. They were returning to the United States after participating in peacekeeping duty with the Multi-national Force and Observers in the Sinai Desert
