Medical Ward of USS Peleliu

U.S. Ambassador to the Philippines, The Honorable Kristie A. Kenney, presents a stuffed bunny to a Filipino child as his mother holds him in the medical ward of amphibious assault ship USS Peleliu (LHA 5). The child is recovering from surgery performed on the ship by a team of U.S. and foreign military doctors as well as civilian medical professionals in support of Pacific Partnership. Peleliu is uniquely capable of supporting medical and humanitarian assistance needs and has been configured with special medical equipment and a robust multi-specialized medical team to provide a range of services.
