Maj. Gen. Thomas D. Weidley, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing commanding general, signs the Local Implementation Agreement on Kanoya Air Base, Kagoshima district, Japan, Nov. 29, 2018. The commanding generals met to sign a Local Implementation Agreement permitting the KC-130J Hercules aircraft to land on Kanoya Air Base. U.S. Marines will be able to train side-by-side with JGSDF counterparts, allowing for continuous integration and cooperation of bilateral forces—further strengthening the longstanding U.S.-Japanese Alliance.
