Summary

Lonely Dell Ranch Orchard In the early 1900s, the focus shifted away from subsistence farming and the original orchard and vineyard planted by Warren Johnson died. The Grand Canyon Cattle Company wanted to grow alfalfa and use the land to feed livestock as they crossed the ferry. In the 1960s, a group of investors known as the Consortium purchased the Lonely Dell Ranch. One of these individuals, E. Reesman Fryer, was a descendant of Mormon immigrants who had crossed at Lees Ferry in the 19th century. Interested in preserving the heritage of the property, they replanted the orchards and rebuilt ditches. Lees Ferry and Lonely Dell Ranch Landscape
