Letter from Parentha Bodwell, Farmington, to Amos Augustus Phelps, Feb 4th 1829
Summary
Amos A. Phelps’s cousin, Parentha Bodwell, writes to Phelps while visiting Phelps's mother in Farmington. She talks about the busy schedule of her life devoted to religious causes. She then talks about their friend Mary’s plan to go into a convent, and Phelps’s plan to go to Africa. She says she hasn’t had an opportunity to talk with Mary Cornish about the African Colonization Society. In the segment added later, Bodwell says that Phelps’s mother wants her to write to him that she finally “succeeded in bringing [her] business to a close.” She goes on reporting what his mother said about financial matters. Finally, Bodwell writes about Uncle E’s "last words."
