Letter from Mary Anne Rawson, Sheffield, [England], to William Lloyd Garrison, October 15, 1878
Summary
Mary Anne Rawson writes William Lloyd Garrison a few words concerning their recently-deceased mutual friend, George Thompson. Rawson states that despite her sense that "this poor earth seems the poorer" in Thompson's absence, they must rejoice that Thompson's "emancipated spirit is at rest in the unclouded presence of the Saviour he truly loved and trusted in". Rawson describes to Garrison a visit to Thompson upon his deathbed by her niece, Gertrude Wilson, and another by their mutual friend, Mr. Graves.
