Letter from Alanson St. Clair, West Boylston, to Amos Augustus Phelps, 13th July 1837
Summary
In this letter to Amos A. Phelps, Alanson St. Clair discusses antislavery agents across Massachusetts, and the convention he and his associates plan to hold in Worcester in September. He says that the ministers, who kept an anti-abolitionist stance due to Garrison’s position and the resolutions of the New York Female Anti-Slavery Society, will now have to change their position one way or another.
