Le dieu Nil (Louvre, MR 307) dos

The god Nile. Marble. Egypt. 193-222 CE. This is the Greek presentation taken over by the Romans. It is identifiable by the elements evoking Egypt such as animals or the sphinx on which it is based. A colossal version was found near the temple of Isis. It is now preserved in the Vatican. Its counterpart of the Tiber statue is kept in the Louvre. Napoleonic seizure, Albani collection 1803.

Il est identifiable grace à des éléments évoquant l'Égypte comme les animaux ou le sphinx sur lequel elle s'appuie. Une version colossale a été retrouvée près du temple d'Isis.
