Andrea del Sarto was an Italian painter from Florence who was born in 1486. He was known for his skilful use of colour and his ability to capture the human form with great accuracy and sensitivity. Del Sarto's early work was heavily influenced by the works of Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo, but he eventually developed his own unique style. He was particularly noted for his use of light and shadow, which gave his paintings a sense of depth and realism. Some of del Sarto's most famous works include 'The Last Supper', 'Madonna of the Harpies' and 'Portrait of a Young Man'. Despite his talent, del Sarto struggled financially throughout his life and was often overshadowed by other artists of his time. Del Sarto died in 1530 at the age of 44, leaving behind a legacy as one of the great painters of the Italian Renaissance. His influence can still be seen in the work of many artists today.
