Summary
Kano Naonobu was a Japanese artist of the Edo period, a master of the Kano school of painting. Kano Naonobu was the younger brother of Kano Tanyu, together with whom they did many major works commissioned by the Tokugawa shogunate. Naonobu's style differed from his brother and others of the Kano school. He often used the technique of negative space and made great strides in monochrome ink painting.
