Portrait of James Kirker, otherwise known as Don Santiago Kirker, King of New Mexico. He was an Indian fighter and trapper who lived in St. Louis from 1817-1821. On this daguerreotype is faint writing which is reversed, indicating that it is a duplicate plate. This inscription along the bottom of the daguerreotype says "Don Santiago Kirker, King of New Mexico".Title: James Kirker (Don Santiago Kirker), King of New Mexico, Indian fighter and trapper.
