I crave pardon for this digression, but the article referred to is some-what misleading. In this case the bone sections were made at the site of the abnormalgrowths. That on the left being broadest, which was situated betweenthe bicuspids, was taken as a gauge and a section nine thirty-secondsof an inch was removed from each side. On the right the space betweenthe bicuspid and the molar was not as great and the second bicuspidwas removed. There was a shooting forward of the whole jaw be-sides, and the amount removed was not sufficient to entirely correctthe deformity. You will still perceive some lateral projection. Figure2 shows the present condition with the molars capped with the goldcrowns. Figure 3 shows what this condition would be with properorthodontic treatment; here the gold crowns have been removed, theinferior incisors shortened and the superior incisors moved forwardto a proper position. This, of course, was done in the cast, but itwould be perfectly practical and should be done on the patient, andwould have been done had I at that time a sufficient knowledge of thepossibilities of orthodontic operations.
