Belbello da Pavia was an Italian painter active in the 15th century. He is believed to have been born in Pavia, a city in northern Italy, and is known for his work in Lombardy, particularly in the cities of Milan and Pavia. Belbello da Pavia is known for his frescoes and altarpieces, often depicting religious scenes. His style is characterised by his attention to detail and his use of bright colours. He was influenced by the work of other Lombard painters of his time, such as Vincenzo Foppa and Giovanni Bellini. One of Belbello da Pavia's most famous works is the cycle of frescoes in the church of San Pietro in Ciel d'Oro in Pavia. The cycle depicts scenes from the life of St Augustine and is considered one of the finest examples of 15th century Lombard painting. Belbello da Pavia's work can also be seen in other churches and museums throughout Lombardy. He died in the late 15th century, but his legacy as a talented painter has endured through the centuries.
