Opening of the first Hornibrook Highway bridge, Redcliffe, 1935
Aerial view of South Portal, Hornibrook Highway on opening day, 4 October 1935 (Description supplied with photograph). A large crowd is gathered at the Redcliffe end of the Hornibrook Highway Bridge, which linked Brisbane to Redcliffe. The Hornibrook Bridge was made of timber, and was replaced (but not demolished) by a cement bridge (the Houghton Highway Bridge), built next to it in 1979.
