The Hawker Sea Fury is a British fighter aircraft developed during the Second World War. It was designed as a carrier-based fighter and entered service in 1947. The Sea Fury was one of the fastest piston-engined aircraft of its time and was renowned for its excellent manoeuvrability and firepower. The Sea Fury was powered by a Bristol Centaurus radial engine which gave it a top speed of over 450 mph. It was armed with four 20mm Hispano-Suiza guns and could carry up to 2,000 pounds of bombs or rockets. The Sea Fury saw active service during the Korean War, where it was used primarily in ground attack roles. It has also served with several other air forces around the world, including Australia, Canada and Pakistan. Today the Sea Fury is a popular aircraft for airshows and private ownership. Several have been restored to flying condition and are regularly flown at airshows around the world.
