Text Appearing Before Image:
TEOPICAL AQUARIUM FISHES 19 THE SUCKER As a novelty the Sucker may be kept in an aquarium. It is by no means a handsome fish, appearing somewhat awkward and chimsy. Pre- ferring vegetable foods, it will also take earthworms. In habits it is perfectly harmless.
Text Appearing After Image:
Fig. 64. The Shiner THE ROACH, OR SHINER Here we again have one of the very hardy small aquarium fishes. It is decidedly active, and if kept in a bright light shows its briUiant silvery sides to advantage. The Roach is seldom still and has a stimulat- ing efi^ect upon the more lethargic members of a general collection. It is of a gentle nature and is not at all particular as to what it is fed.
