Summary
Significance: Part of an ongoing project to document the evolution of the Columbia River gillnet boat, Bue Girl is an example of a square-sterned bowpicker with a V-8 engine. Originally a bowpicker, Bue Girl has been modified to a sternpicker. Bue Girl was built at the Columbia Boat Building Company, the shop of Finnish builder Mats Tolonen who was one of the most prolific builders of wood bowpickers in the lower Columbia River region.
