German aubmarine U-266 under attack in the Bay of Biscay, 15 March 1943 (C 3575)

Mirror camera oblique aerial photograph showing depth charges straddling the German type VIIC submarine U-266, during an attack by Handley Page Halifax GR Mark II, HR746 'M', of No.58 Squadron RAF in the Bay of Biscay, 15 March 1943. The aircraft was flown by the Squadron's Commanding Officer, Wing Commander W.E. Oulton and crew, who were later able to confirm the U-boat's destruction. The boat was lost with all hands.
