CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. -- Space shuttle Endeavour's STS-134 crew members talk with employees following their successful trip home. Endeavour's final return from space completed the 16-day, 6.5-million-mile STS-134 mission. Main gear touchdown on the Shuttle Landing Facility's Runway 15 was at 2:34:51 a.m. EDT, followed by nose gear touchdown at 2:35:04 a.m., and wheelstop at 2:35:36 a.m. STS-134 delivered the Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer-2 (AMS) and the Express Logistics Carrier-3 (ELC-3) to the International Space Station. AMS will help researchers understand the origin of the universe and search for evidence of dark matter, strange matter and antimatter from the station. ELC-3 carried spare parts that will sustain station operations once the shuttles are retired from service. KENNEDY SPACE CENTER, FLA. -- After their arrival at the Shuttle Landing Facility of NASA's Kennedy Space Center, the STS-120 crew lines up for a photo. From left are From left are Commander Pamela Melroy, Pilot George Zamka and Mission Specialists Scott Parazynski, Stephanie Wilson, Doug Wheelock and Paolo Nespoli. Not pictured is Daniel Tani, who will be remaining on the International Space Station to join the Expedition 16 crew after the mission is complete. Nespoli represents the European Space Agency. The crew has returned to Kennedy to prepare for launch aboard space shuttle Discovery at 11:38 a.m. EDT on Oct. 23. The mission will be the 23rd shuttle flight to the International Space Station, delivering the Italian-built U.S. Node 2, called Harmony. The 14-day mission includes five spacewalks -- four by shuttle crew members and one by the station’s Expedition 16 crew -- to install Harmony and move the P6 solar arrays to their permanent position and deploy them. CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. -- STS-124 Mission Specialists Greg Chamitoff (left) and Akihiko Hoshide (center) and Commander Mark Kelly take part in M113 training on Launch Pad 39A. They and other crew members are at NASA's Kennedy Space Center for a dress launch rehearsal called the terminal countdown demonstration test. TCDT provides astronauts and ground crews with an opportunity to participate in various simulated countdown activities, including equipment familiarization and emergency training. On the STS-124 mission, the crew will deliver and install the Japanese Experiment Module – Pressurized Module and Japanese Remote Manipulator System. Discovery's launch is targeted for May 31.
