Ganges(1782) Culloden (1783) - Public domain architectural plan drawing
Summary
Plan showing the inboard profile for Ganges (1782) and Culloden (1783), both 74-gun Third Rate, two-deckers, built at Rotherhithe by Messrs Randall, Grey and Brent (Randall & Co). The plan states that they were similar to the Tremendous (1784), but she was lengthened during her build unlike these two. Signed by Edward Hunt [Surveyor of the Navy, 1788-1884]. There is also a wash drawing of the Culloden in the collection by Dominic Serres, about 1785 (PAF5783): in the manner of William van de Velde the Elder, a century earlier, he shows the ship afloat from off her starboard quarter, with her lower masts in but otherwise unrigged.
