Fragments (Germany), 15th–16th century (CH 18133139-5)
Summary
A group of embroidery fragments that have been applied to a dark red-violet velvet. Velvet is probably Spanish and dates to the 17th century. Embroideries were removed from a much earlier altar frontal. Fragments show the central tabernacle with the enthroned Virgin and child. Right and left kneeling angels hold musical instruments. Remaining angels have censers.
