Louie Marian Church was born on October 10, 1872 in Hawaii. Louie Marian graduated from Oberlin College in Ohio and became a teacher in the state school for the blind in Lansing, Michigan. She later moved to Salem, Oregon to teach at their school for the blind and met her husband Arthur Conklin while living in Salem. Louie Marian and Arthur had three children and Louie also became mother to Arthur's two previous children. She was active in the church, education and civic affairs. In 1909, Louie Marian suffered a sudden stroke and passed away on March 26, 1909 at the age of 37.
