Piloting the MQ-1C Sky Warrior unmanned aircraft system, Chief Warrant Officer Frank Volpe Jr., from Montville, Conn., a UAS technician and operator diligently monitors the aircraft's systems. Volpe was present for the launch of the aircraft Jan. 11 and, after leaving for the evening, returned 24 hours later to land it.
