description

Summary

Transcribed from photograph: "Churches. First Methodist Episcopal church. Southeast corner of Second Ave. and Columbia St. [Actual location at 3rd Avenue and Marion Street according to 1891-1892 city directory.] Built 1854-1855 by Henry Adams; demolished 1898. Parsonage on corner. Built 1875. First Church in Seattle-the "White church." House beyond church was the Atwood house."

1890 is too late a date. The church building had been sold and moved by then and was functioning as a saloon; the Methodist Episcopal congregation had moved to a new building; and the Boston Block was on this site.

Steeple is clearly drawn in by hand.
