Figure of a scribe, Egypt, Middle Kingdom, 2040 – 1640 BC

The principal figure visible here is an office in scribal kit, with a writing board under one arm, holding a scribal palette in the other. Behind him is an offering bearer carrying a basket of food, of whom only one arm is preserved. (See 26.3.354-1-related.)
