Description


English: Epitaph of Ammias, with inscriptions in Greek and in a semitic language and an engraved representation of the menorah (seven-branched candelabrum). From the Jewish catacombs of Monteverde, on the via Portuense, 3rd-4th centuries CE. Greek inscription: “Here lies Ammias, a Jew from Laodicea, who lived 85 years. Peace!”
Français : Épitaphe d'Ammias, portant des inscriptions en grec et dans une langue sémitique, avec une représentation gravée de la ménorah (chandelier à sept branches). Provient des catacombes juives de Monteverde, sur la via Portuense, IIIe-IVe siècles ap. J.-C.
