Drawing, Two escutcheons, decorative vase and a scroll, 1750–75 (CH 18114751-2)
Summary
The upper escutcheon is in front of a trophy of colors and a helmet and above an entablature; there are four putti. The lower escutcheon has a mask on top; is in front of a cloth supported by two flying putti. At lower left is the vase; beside its foot are two kangaroos; the handles are formed by mermaids with tails entwined. The body of the vase is subdivided in compartments; the upper ones contain busts and an eagle; on top of the cover sits a bear below a scroll; bushes beside the foot. Lower right: a paper scroll between branches; with fantastical animals above and below. Accounting figures on verso.
