Summary
Horizontal rectangle. Verso: Mary sits with the Child outside the stable with the ox. Joseph stands beside her. The ass drinks from a fountain in the lower left corner. The Kings and their suites fill the square. The town is in the right background. Recto, B, vertically: St. Christopher climbs up to the bank of the river. The Child, holding a money bag in his right hand, stands beside and speaks to him. Some persons stand at the other bank.
The image of Mary holding the Christ Child is a common depiction in Christian art and is known as the "Madonna and Child." It represents the mother of Jesus and her son and is a symbol of motherhood, love, and compassion.
