Dish And Cover (England), ca. 1875 (CH 18635881-2)

Oval, flat-based dish (a). Sides tapered toward lip, molded with swagged nets alternating with game trophies. At edge of base and lip molded ochre-glazed twisted-rope border. Ground glazed brown, with molded motifs picked out in yellow, white, blue, and brown. Interior glazed with bright mauve; underside mottled green and brown. Oval cover (b) glazed mauve on underside. Exterior molded with central finial in form of a fox on fern fronds and a dead duck. Cover in polychrome colors as on base.
