PEARL HARBOR (Dec. 07, 2010) DeWayne Chartier, a survivor of the Dec. 7, 1941 Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor aboard the battleship USS Pennsylvania (BB 38), stands as a wreath is presented in honor of his former ship during a wreath-laying ceremony commemorating the 69th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor. Assisting Chartier is Jim Taylor, Pearl Harbor survivor liaison for Commander, Navy Region Hawaii. The National Park Service and the U.S. Navy hosted a memorial ceremony to dedicate the new $56 million Pearl Harbor Visitor Center at the World War II Valor in the Pacific National Monument, formerly known as the USS Arizona Memorial Visitor Center.
