RAPHAEL AND HIS PUPILS The most famous Renaissance designer of tapestries is Raphael,and the most famous set of Renaissance tapestries is his Acts of theApostles. The example illustrated, however, on Plate II, is not oneof the original set which hangs now in the Vatican, but one of theRoyal Spanish set. The story pictui-ed is the Blinding of Elymasas told in verses VI to XII of Chapter XIII of Acts. Elymaswas a sorcerer who tried to turn away the Roman deputy from thetrue faith.
