Summary

DCM ledger: "Brass key probably replaces silver key." This instrument probably had no ferrules, but currently has nickel silver ferrules. At some point, each socket was cut back to form a shoulder intended to receive the current nickel silver ferrules, probably added as a crack prevention measure. The present head joint cap plug may be original although it is now covered with a nickel silver cap made of 2 elements brazed together.

Medium: Boxwood, stained dark, nickel silver cap and ferrules, brass key.; 50.3 cm.
Key Holes System: 1 key, square flap, pin in block.

Mark Additional: Mark on head. Mark on upper, lower, foot: Wood & Ivy (cursive).
Condition: See Notes. Head joint cracked at socket, several replacement parts.
Provenance: John T. Shiel, Walkden, near Manchester, England, 4 Apr. 1932.
