DCM ledger: "Tube engraved where fingers touch, and around bottom ends. This flute was [originally] bought in 1875, second-hand.... Badger made the extra joint about 1881." Ebonite head extra thinned. Elaborate engraving at head joint surrounding oval gold plaque, lower ferrule, and on the body where the right thumb and left hand first finger upper phalynx make contact with tube.
