Summary

Dedicated 1909. Reverend David Caldwell was a native of Pennsylvania and a graduate of the College of New Jersey (Princeton University). A Presbyterian minister (with pastorates at Alamance and Buffalo Presbyterian Churches), he was an outspoken supporter of the independence movement which made him a wanted man by the Loyalists. Caldwell helped care for the wounded of both sides left behind in the atermath of the Battle of Guilford Courthouse. He held several political positions and was a member of the NC Constitutional Convention. He also practiced folk medicine as a healer and educated young men at his Log College. He lived to be 99 years of age and is buried at Buffalo Presbyterian Church in Greensboro.
