Creator: Francis Bedford (1816 - 1894) Date: c. 1865 Format: Albumen print Collection: National Media Museum Collection Inventory no: 1990-5037_B1_2826 A photographic view of training ships of the Royal Navy Cadet School, based in Dartmouth, on the River Dart, with the Old Mill Creek in the background. The Britannia, the three deck ship on the left, had been the cadet training ship at Dartmouth from 1864 - 1869. Around 1865, the number of cadets was too large for just one ship so the Hindustan, the two deck ship on the right, arrived and was connected to Britannia by a covered walkway.
