Satire; Sir Jacob Astley celebrating his award of one shilling in damages, for his wife's 'criminal conversation' with one Thomas Garth, lieutenant in the Guards; at left, outside The Bell bawdy house, 'Mother Richardson' stands with glass and large bottle, saying, 'God bless your honour, you are allways a good customer to the Bell, and Mother Richardson!!!'; Sir Jacob, with cuckold's horns and riding on the shoulders of two prostitutes, holds aloft a bottle and cries, 'Come along my girls. I'll give you a treat to night, and we'll spend the shilling in gin', a third prostitute walking alongside sings, 'We all know Sir Jacob's a bit of a swell / High ho says Rowley / He like's to go larking with Kitty or Nell / And he treats us to night at the sign of the Bell. / With his rowley poley gammon & spinnage / and high says Anthony Rowley.'; a respectable couple in the distance laugh at the scene. At r, Astley's wife, Georgiana Caroline Astley (née Dashwood), also with cuckold's horns, carries her lover on her shoulders outside 'St. Jame's Hotel Jermyn. St.'; he sports military costume and carries a flag labelled 'one shillin[g] damages', commenting, 'this is a new method of mounting guard my love'; she replies, 'Yes my dear - we have shown Sir Jacob some fun for the shilling'. 28 February 1827
