Original Caption: Barnard College. Women's Agricultural Camp Bedford, New York. In the Summer of 1917, 60 students and graduates of Barnard College, led by Prof. Ida H. Ogilvie, worked, with other women, at the Women's Agricultural Camp, Bedford, New York. This was one of the units organized by the Committee on Agriculture of the Mayor's Committee of Women on National Defense of New York City, of which sub-committee Dean Gildersleeve of Barnard was chairman. The women were employed by farmers of the neighborhood in planting, weeding, thinning of fruit, hoeing of corn and potatoes, haying, harvesting of rye, corn, peaches and applies. 1917.
