description

Summary

A page from Nairn and Sons’ 1906 horticultural catalogue shows several clematis blooms of different colours. Clematis hybrids for the garden had been popular from the 18th century but especially from the 1860s. You can see advertisements for various clematis plants in the Christchurch Press, 21 October 1905, page 8.
The beautiful lithography is by C M Banks Ltd, a Wellington printer who worked for Lyon & Blair but set up in his own company in around 1897.
