Children from the Oversteek School read their poems honoring the 48 paratroopers of the 82nd Airborne Division who died in combat during the Waal River crossing at a commemoration ceremony near Nijmegen, the Netherlands, Sept. 18. Paratroopers of the 82nd Airborne Division and the 173rd Airborne Brigade attended the ceremony as part of a weeklong commemoration of the 71st Anniversary of Operation Market Garden, the allied offensive in World War II that included the largest airborne operation in history.
