Chebelley villagers and Djiboutian guests line the road singing and clapping for the arrival of the official party for the Chebelley Clinic grand opening ceremony here, April 18. The villagers celebrated with singing and dancing before, during and after the ceremony. The clinic is the result of a joint effort by the Djiboutian Ministry of Health, the people of Chebelley Village, Combined Joint Task Force - Horn of Africa, U.S. Agency for International Development and the U.S. State Department, and was constructed to provide care to at least 1,000 people per year. The clinic houses a resident nurse practitioner and midwife for around-the-clock care to patients from the village and surrounding areas.
